Do you know your Floribunda from your Centiofolias?

Did you know that there are over 30,000 different types of rose varieties in the world and counting.

Each variety is then split into one of over 150 different species.

Albas, Damasks, Gallicas, Centifolias, Moss, Cabbage, Shrub, Teas, Hybrid Teas, Hybrid Sweetbriars, Bourbons, Chinas, Hybrid Perpetuals, Noisettes, Portlands, Wild, Polyanthus, Musk, hybrid Musk, Floribunda, Climbing, Patio, Miniature, and on and on it goes.

All of the above doesn't even take into account commercial roses.

Yes, some of the commercial varieties have the term 'garden rose' but they are completely different beasts to real garden roses. So please do not compare true garden roses (like the ones we grow) with commercial garden roses. Comparing one rose variety against another is like comparing chalk and cheese.

Confused yet? You're not alone.

Let me put it simply. It's like saying Mozzarella, Cheddar, Feta, Brie, Stilton, Paneer, Roquefort, Chhurpi, Emmental, Philadelphia and Dairylea are all the same.

I mean, they're all cheese..... right?
